Trinity Alps Trip Photos --- June 1-6, 2005

Young spike foraging near snowmelt runoff.

*
*

Solitude, snow and serenity. (And 20's at night!)

*
*

This (6,000-plus foot) lake still frozen in June. Would open
a bit during the day, then freeze back over again at night.

*
*

Hung clothes out to dry -- an hour later -- found they
were frozen stiff -- literally! Ended up doing what our
species has done in similar situations since time
immemorial -- built a fire. -:)

*
*

Doe by frozen lake. (She seemed to be saying:
"This is June in California?" -:)

*
*

Young spike foraging through. Saw the spike and
its mom every day while camped here. They appeared to be
the only two deer in the immediate area.
